Outfest Script Development Lab

Louise was on of five Fellows at the wonderful OutFest Script Lab in LA. They had three days of intensive mentoring from Micah Schraft, Abdi Nazemian, Barry Sandler, Michele Mulroney and Guinevere Turner, not to mention a raft of inspirational talks and events. There is going to be a staged reading of three scenes from each of the five Fellow's scripts during the festival in July. A big thank you to the organisers, the mentors, the speakers, and we look forward to taking the script to an even higher level.

Chicago script reading

We didn’t win, but we did have a wonderful time and congratulations to Tom Hiette for his winning screenplay Detasseling and to all the other great finalists. The contest revealed a wonderful variety of stories - we could not get to them all but it was great to hear the different scripts as up to 19 actors read the different roles. The Australian words were sometimes a little challenging - our Aussie word ute became what sounded like a German fashion accessory but overall the screenplay translated well and worked without any of the original accents, which is all the confirmation we need that it will work for a US audience as well. Go e!
